The NVQ Level 4 takes the learning professional through a series of stages that not only reviews their practice as a trainer, coach or mentor but asks them to examine this in the context of the whole organisation.

This course would those already holding a level 3 award, or training professional who are responsible for the design, planning and coordination of training in an organisation.

Candidates must complete all seven Mandatory units plus one unit from Optional Group A and four units from Optional Group B.

Mandatory Units

  • Contribute to learning within the organisation
  • Evaluate and develop own practice
  • Evaluate and improve learning and development programmes
  • Design learning programmes
  • Agree learning programmes with learners
  • Manage the contribution of other people to the learning process
  • Create a climate that promotes learning

Group A – Optional Units

  • Identify the learning and development needs of the organisation
  • Identify individual learning aims and programmes

Group B – Optional Units

  • Assess candidates using a range of methods

  • Enable group learning
  • Support learners by mentoring in the workplace
  • Support and advise individual learners
  • Monitor and review progress with learners
  • Respond to changes in learning and development
  • Provide learning and development in international settings
  • Plan how to provide basic skills in the workplace
  • Introduce training for basic skills in the workplace
  • Prepare and develop resources to support learning
  • Conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process
